Climate:
Daytime high temperatures start out in the 18-19 C (mid-60s F) early in June but warm into the comfortable 21-22 C (lower 70s F) by month’s end. A couple of the warmer days, especially later in the month will reach temperatures 26-27 C (near 80 F) while a couple of the cooler afternoons, earlier in the month may only get to 14-15 C (upper 50s F). Late night and early morning low temperatures tend to be 11-12 C (lower 50s F) but warming to 13-14 C (mid to upper 50s F) by month’s end.

Clothing:
The dress code for BPS ASM 2022 Meeting is business formal for all occasions unless stated otherwise.

Currency:
The UK’s currency is Pound Sterling (commonly known as pound) and the symbol is £. There are 100 pence (p) to the pound (£). Notes come in denominations of £5, £10, £20, and £50. Coins come in 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2.

Changing Money:
Foreign currency of all kinds are very rarely accepted but they may be exchanged at the airport, banks, post offices, most hotels or licensed exchange agencies in London. The rates vary from place to place, and banks charge a commission.

Credit & Debit Cards:
Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted in UK, except at some smaller B&Bs, which take cash or cheque only. Other credit cards, including Amex, are not so widely accepted. Most businesses will assume your card is 'Chip and PIN' enabled (using a PIN instead of signing). If it isn’t, you should be able to sign instead, but some places may not accept your card.

Cash Withdrawal:
ATMs (usually called 'cash machines' in UK) are common in cities and even small towns. Cash withdrawals from some ATMs may be subject to a small charge, but most are free. If you're not from the UK, your home bank will likely charge you for withdrawing money overseas.

Electrical Supply:
In UK, the power plugs and sockets are of type G. The standard voltage is 230 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.



Language:
The official language of the BPS ASM Meeting is English.

Safety & Security:
Please do not leave bags or suitcases unattended at any time, whether inside or outside the session halls. Hotels strongly recommend that you use their safety deposit boxes for your valuables.
As with the rest of the UK, in any emergency call 999 or 112 (from a landline if you can) and ask for ambulance, fire or police when connected.

Liability & Insurance:

The Meeting Secretariat and Organizers cannot accept liability for personal accidents or loss of or damage to private property of participants. Upon registration, participants agree that neither the Organizing Committee nor the Meeting Secretariat assumes any liability.
Participants are advised to take out their own personal travel and health insurance for their trip.

Program Changes:
The Organizers cannot assume liability for any changes in the programme due to external unforeseen circumstances.
